Unison and GMB initiated protest outside the city council cabinet meeting to discuss the proposed cuts.
The protest brought together trade unions, workers, groups like Anti Cuts Network, Save Newcastle Libraries, Newcastle Free Education Network as well as many community campaigns including parents from Cheviot View and Castle Dene centres and Play and Youth Centres planned to close.
Following the meeting 50 came to the "Where next?" informal meeting in the Hancock pub

Activist network of workers, students, retired and claimants in and around Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The network was launched out of the bottom up protests of the students, which others were keen to support and now campaigns against cuts.
