Activist network of workers, students, retired and claimants in and around Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The network was launched out of the bottom up protests of the students, which others were keen to support and now campaigns against cuts.

We meet every fortnight at organise specifically to oppose cuts to services, jobs and communities.

We aim to coordinate with other local campaigns including campaigns to save Libraries; Youth services; Play services; Pools & Leisure centres; City Hall; Sure Start services etc.

June 30th: Organise through this blog

Hi all,

June 30th - Strike Planning

Got an idea for the pickets, or action on the day? Or want to organise banner-making?

Here is an open space to plan action for June 30th. All are welcome to comment, and you will be able to organise publicly - simply 'comment' on this link to start the discussion. By keeping all discussion to this post (just keep commenting!), it will be clear what has already been organised, and will give everybody the opportunity to discuss action.

This post can always be found by clicking on 'June 30th Organising', in the 'Labels' section on the right hand side of the blog.

Don't panic - organise!

  1. Its proving difficult to get details of time & place of pickets. If we are going to have an anti-cuts network roving picket then I suggest we either:

    a) meet Four Lane Ends Metro at 7.30am for Benton Ministry & then to Newcastle College later in morning, (possibly with a diversion through Northumbria & Newcastle campuses if we have the numbers), or,

    b) reverse the process, meeting at Newc. College around 8am.

I'd like to put a FB event up for this soon, (ie before CoR or anyone else nicks the idea)

Are we taking cake, coffee etc for pickets?

    Cheers, alan.

ps more people might comment on this blog if the process, (the 'select profile' bit) wasn't such a ridiculous faff on. Most blogs u just choose & name & enter your email. Just saying!
